Our Home is nestled on an outcrop ridge of slick rock, with juniper, spruce, a pine tree or two and cactus and sage. This used to be the shore of an old marshy lake ringed by Native American Indian dwellings. There is evidence of their prescence still here and in the surrounding mesas.

There will never be an obstruction of your view of Zion National Park.

The park is only 18 miles away on a scenic by-way for all wheel drive cars and trucks.

Our old town of Hurricane is properly called the 'Gateway to the Parks' and 'Grand Circle' Tour entrance. Leaving Las Vegas behind you enter the Virgin River Gorge and climb the Grand Staircase of Geological Time. You follow the Virgin Rift and climb up the Hurricane cliffs to find yourself facing the Zion Park front range of mountains. From this point, here at Apple Valley, you are central to Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon North Rim, Lake Powell, The Grand Staircase Escalante, Brianhead Ski Resort and Cedar Breaks. The county is growing. In the near future the town of Hurricane (12 miles away) will be adding a new Walmart, Walgreens, expanded Hospital services and new Doctors offices. St. George is 35 minutes from our door; you'll find Wal-Mart, Dillards, Sears, Costco and lots of fine dining and fast food. Lots of art activities, Tuacahn Ampitheather, St George Art Fair, Art In The Park. In Springdale at the entrance of Zion National Park, there are many galleries and shops, restaurants, lodging and bars. Z-Arts has many art activities from poetry reading, yoga classes, music, to Z-Arts Christmas Art Fair. Z-Arts is a fun art group to belong to here; great for networking with other artists.

You do have a few neighbors but, not many. And all of the lots on this side of the ridge are 1 1/2 acres or more. There are wolves that live next door, they don't get out and we don't bother them. But, what a delight to listen to wolves howling at the moon. There is a lot of wild life around; we have three wild hen turkeys on the street now. You'll spot deer running through the yard and quail. At night you can hear the calls of the coyotes as they hunt along the base of the mountain. There are a few owners with horses and all are well cared for and loved. A Perregrine Falcon pair nests on our apex beam most years and has fledged several young. Hawks and Eagles are here with some sightings of a Condor now and then. The rabbits are abundant and big; lots of chipmunks and squirrels too. It is very quiet here, with good neighbors and the stars at night are unbelievable. The darkness is profound.
